Sleepy Jean’s smile is back, and it is the best news of the day. Seriously — look at her photos. A gray pit bull girl, in the sunshine, in a red bandana, tongue out, facing the camera like she has decided the camera is just fine. She is more relaxed than she was. She is walking a little better than she was. She is doing great, her foster says, and she looks it.
Yes, Sleepy Jean has arthritis and very clear issues in her back legs, and whoever adopts her needs to love her with that — practically, patiently, with a home that does not ask her to be a dog she is not. But that is not the sad part of her story. That is just part of who she is, and she is so much more than that: a happy, smiling girl who wants to be near you, take her time, and enjoy the sunshine.
Picture it: Sleepy Jean, on the grass, taking her time, not in a hurry to be anywhere except wherever you are. She does not need to run. She needs to rest, and be loved, and keep getting a little better — with you.
